Muriel Mayes Monty, PT, COMT

Muriel Monty is a dedicated and compassionate Physical Therapist renowned for her expertise in myofascial release techniques aimed at treating and preventing functional disorders of the musculoskeletal and neurological systems.

With a career spanning over three decades, Muriel’s academic journey began at Mount Holyoke College in Amherst, MA. She later graduated cum laude from Howard University’s prestigious physical therapy program in Washington DC and earned her certification as an orthopedic manual therapist from the esteemed Ola Grimsby Institute Seattle, WA satellite.

Muriel’s practice is deeply rooted in manual therapies, with a particular emphasis on myofascial release, soft tissue, and joint mobilizations. These techniques are crucial in alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, enhancing mobility and flexibility, mitigating stress, and promoting muscle balance and overall functionality. She understands that imbalances or restrictions in the fascial system can reverberate through other bodily areas, affecting both physical health and emotional and spiritual well-being.

In her holistic approach to patient care, Muriel integrates her MFR expertise with complimentary, evidence-based therapies such as photomodulation, Winback TECAR, Shockwave therapy and EMTT. Her professional journey is marked by continuous exploration and personal growth, recognizing the interconnectedness of physical, emotional, and energetic aspects of health.

Currently a student at the Globe Sound Healing Institute in Sausalito, CA, Muriel is dedicated to integrate the profound insights of sound, energy, frequency and vibrational therapy into her practice. She is particularly intrigued by the transformative potential of these therapies in affecting the body physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Her goal ( or intention ) is to harness these manual and vibrational forces to enhance the well being and healing of her clients, guiding them toward a deeper understanding of their bodies and the universe around them.

Muriels practice is grounded in a profound respect for the body’s innate wisdom and its inherent capacity for self-healing and restoration. She believes in trusting the body’s own intelligence in the healing process.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Muriel cherishes her time with her daughter, Mikabella, a beautiful spirit who is the light of her life. She also enjoys engaging in mixed media and abstract painting, gardening, and various other creative pursuits.
